Overview
Space Cruise is an overhead roller coaster (overhead sightseeing ride) that combines elevated track travel with suspended cabins. Passengers board a cabin that hangs beneath a drive unit running inside a track supported by columns. The ride provides elevated views and is suitable for parks and attractions looking for a smooth, quiet experience with customizable layout and capacity.
Design and build
The ride consists of columns, track, drive cabins, and suspended gondolas. The track can be customized in length and height to fit your site. The standard track height is 9 m, with Class B for heights under 10 m and Class A for heights of 10 m or more. Each cabin carries 6 passengers. The number of cabins is customizable, with a recommended density of 5 cabins per kilometer of track. The drive cabin includes a UPS that can power the cabin back to the station in case of a power failure. A track switching mechanism allows multiple stations and quick removal of a faulty cabin from the circuit. Cabin door closing is interlocked with departure.
Site and installation
The footprint and track length are customized to your site. The ride requires a power supply of 3N+PE 380V/220V 50Hz. Installed capacity depends on the number of cabins. The complete unit has a design service life of 25 years, and cabins have a design service life of 15 years. Installation follows project-specific engineering drawings. The ride is designed to the standards required by your market, confirmed per project.
Operating notes
Operation requires trained staff. At least three trained operators and one trained maintenance technician should be available. Rescue equipment includes two-way radios, a ladder truck (contact local fire department if needed), and a medical ambulance (contact local medical services if needed). In case of a drive cabin fault, the following cabin can push it back to the station. For power failure, the UPS automatically returns cabins to the station. For mechanical jams, staff can use a ladder truck to evacuate passengers. Evacuation time varies by scenario, with a target of under one hour for full evacuation. The ride operates smoothly and quietly, with door interlocks and emergency procedures in place.
