Overview
The Flying Chair is a rotating flying ride with 48 suspended seats. It combines rotation, lift and tilt to create a wave-like flight sensation. The ride is a fixed installation intended for theme parks, family entertainment centers and larger amusement parks. It offers high hourly capacity within a compact footprint, making it suitable for sites where space is limited but visitor throughput matters.
Design and build
The ride consists of a lower base assembly, upper carriage, sliding assembly, canopy, seat suspension, decoration and lighting, electrical system and hydraulic system. The 48 seats are arranged so that they do not collide during operation. Each seat is equipped with an electromagnetic lock for the safety belt, which can be released centrally from the control cabin to speed up loading and unloading. The ride is designed to the standards required by your market, confirmed per project.
- 48 seats with central electromagnetic belt locking.
- Five interlock checks before start: dispatch, hydraulic pressure, drive, mode and stop position.
- Hydraulic lift and rotation for smooth motion.
- Decorative lighting integrated into the canopy.
Site and installation
The ride requires a footprint of 20 m by 23 m and a power supply of 3N+PE 380/220V 50Hz. Installed power is 75 kVA. The equipment height is 10.4 m and the run height is 7.5 m. The rotation diameter is 10.4 m. Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel according to the foundation and assembly drawings provided. The design life of the ride is 16 years under normal operating and maintenance conditions.
Operating notes
The ride operates at 12 rpm. Trained operators and maintenance staff are required. Emergency procedures cover power failure, passenger discomfort and other scenarios, with defined steps for each. Regular drills, at intervals not exceeding one quarter, are recommended. A medical room with first-aid equipment and trained personnel should be available near the ride. Daily pre-opening checks and adherence to the maintenance schedule are essential for safe operation.
