Overview
The 130m Ferris Wheel is a fixed observation ride designed for large parks, waterfronts and mixed-use developments. It carries up to 288 passengers in 48 spherical capsules, six per capsule. The wheel turns at approximately 0.22 m/s and completes one revolution in about 30 minutes, giving riders a long, stable viewing period. The ride is intended for operators who need high hourly throughput and a landmark structure that integrates with the surrounding master plan.
Design and build
The wheel structure uses a steel cable system to connect the rim to the central hub. Capsules are mounted on brackets fixed to the outer rim. The drive system uses multiple motor-driven friction wheels to rotate the wheel smoothly. The design follows the standards required by your market, confirmed per project. A manual release device on each drive unit allows staff to free a jammed friction wheel quickly, reducing downtime from drive faults.
- 48 spherical capsules with six seats each.
- Total capacity of 288 passengers per cycle.
- Fixed installation with a 25-year design service life.
- Designed to the standards required by your market, confirmed per project.
Site and installation
The equipment footprint is 130m by 48m, and the foundation footprint is 60m by 48m. The ride requires a 3N+PE 380/220V 50Hz power supply and has an installed capacity of 240kVA. A diesel generator is provided for emergency evacuation. Installation is fixed; the foundation and anchor design must be confirmed for local soil and wind conditions. Site layout should account for queue areas, boarding platforms and maintenance access around the drive platform.
Operating notes
Capsule doors are opened and closed by staff using a two-step control sequence. The door must be closed and locked before the wheel can start. Two interlock systems protect operation: the ride will not start if any capsule door is not closed, and it will not start without a pre-departure signal. In an emergency, trained staff follow a defined evacuation procedure, using the diesel generator if needed. A weekly check of the generator fuel level and condition is recommended.
