Overview
The 12-Person Blue Artistic Carousel is a double-deck carousel designed for parks and attractions. It carries up to 68 riders per cycle, with 60 horses and 4 cars. The ride rotates at 3.6 rpm and completes a cycle in 5 minutes. Its 14.2 m height and 9.3 m swing diameter make it a visible landmark in any midway or themed area.
Design and build
The upper and lower rotating platforms are independently suspended from a central column. A single column with diagonal bracing forms the main support structure. The drive system uses a geared motor and open gear to rotate the platforms, while a crank-link mechanism makes the horses move up and down. The design service life is 15 years under normal operating conditions.
- Central column and diagonal bracing for structural stability.
- Independent control of upper and lower decks.
- Interlocked start system: doors and maintenance panels must be closed.
- Variable frequency drive fault interlock prevents operation if a fault is detected.
Site and installation
The ride requires a fixed foundation and a footprint of 200 m² (16 m diameter). It is designed for a power supply of 22 kVA. Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel following the provided engineering drawings. The ride is designed to the standards required by your market, confirmed per project. Site preparation should account for the 14.2 m overall height and the need for safe access to both decks for maintenance and evacuation.
Operating notes
Before each cycle, operators must complete the pre-start interlock sequence: press the pre-start button, then the start button. The ride will not start if the upper deck exit door is open, if maintenance doors are open, or if the variable frequency drive reports a fault. In an emergency, press the emergency stop to cut power. Rescue personnel can then manually push the upper deck to align with the stair platform and guide passengers to exit via the stairs. Regular inspections and maintenance are essential to achieve the 15-year design life.
